Privacy policy
Who we are
Glance French (“the app”) is made by Brock-Chain (“we”). Contact: erme.development@gmail.com.
What stays on your phone
The app keeps these only in its own private storage on your phone:
- your progress: the words you studied and when each comes back, your answers, your lesson results;
- your settings: new words a day, the daily goal, the widget's look;
- the word recordings you played, kept so they play offline.
We never receive any of it. You delete it with Settings, Reset all progress, or by uninstalling the app.
When the app uses the internet
Only for word recordings. The first time you play a word that has a recording, the app downloads that file from Wikimedia Commons (upload.wikimedia.org), run by the Wikimedia Foundation. Like any website, its servers see your IP address and which file was asked for; the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy applies. The app sends nothing else and contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting code.
Services of your phone the app uses
- Text-to-speech. The app reads French aloud with your phone's own voice service (for example Google's speech services), preferring voices saved on the phone. If your phone has only an online voice, that service may send the sentence to its provider to speak it, under the provider's privacy policy.
- Android backup. Android may back up the app's progress and settings to your Google account. You control this in your phone's settings; Google's privacy policy applies, and we cannot see these backups.
- Export and import. Settings, Export progress saves a file where you choose. We never receive it.
- Google Play. Google Play handles installs and any purchase, under Google's privacy policy. For a purchase we receive only a confirmation, never your payment details. Google shares crash statistics with developers in the Play Console without telling us who you are.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13. It collects personal data from no one.
Your rights
We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to access, correct, delete or restrict. If you email us, we use your address only to answer you and delete the messages when the matter is closed. You may ask us at any time to access, correct, delete or stop using that information (the ARCO rights under Mexican law, and the matching rights under the laws where you live, such as the EU's GDPR) by writing to the address above.
Changes
If the app ever changes what it does with data, we update this page and the date above before the change ships.
Law
The developer is in Mexico. This policy follows Mexico's federal law on personal data held by private parties and aims to meet the GDPR and other privacy laws for an app that collects no personal data.
