The app

The app's code, its lessons, exercises and design are © 2026 Brock-Chain, all rights reserved.

The word list

The app's word list (words, meanings, forms, example sentences and their translations) is made from:

Changes made: the 5,007 most used French base words were selected with their forms, English meanings and up to three example sentences; meanings were reordered so the one a learner meets first comes first; rude words and meanings were removed; levels A1 to B2 were given by frequency.

The word list is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. You may use it under that licence. Download it: glance-french-words.zip (JSON Lines, one file per table).

Recordings

Word recordings come from Wikimedia Commons, many of them recorded through Lingua Libre. Each recording has its own author and licence, mostly CC BY-SA; a word's page in the app names the speaker and links to the recording's file page, which shows both.

Fonts

Inter (© The Inter Project Authors) and Playfair Display (© The Playfair Display Project Authors), both under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Open-source software

The app is built with Flutter and open-source packages. Their licences are listed in the app: Settings, About and sources, Open-source licenses.
